GAME REPORT
The Sarnia Braves defeated the Wyoming Cattlebarons 5-2 in the opening game of the Western Counties Baseball League on Monday night at Errol Russel Park in Sarnia.

Joel Ainsworth threw the complete game for Sarnia allowing only two unearned runs while striking out nine. Ryan Nutma threw a strong game for Wyoming striking out six.

Sarnia got on the board first in the second inning as Rick Taylor and Scott Finnie connected for base hits and came around to score.  Pat McKay would come into count in the third inning capitalizing on two Cattlebarons errors.

Sarnia took a 5-0 lead into the fifth after Kraig Wright, running for catcher Jamie Downton, and Jamie Barron came around to score in the bottom of the fourth. Mark Schoenmaker and Chris Pool scored for Wyoming in the fifth. Jon Lavers threw a scoreless fifth and sixth inning for Wyoming.

Barron, Taylor and James Grant each had an extra base hit for the Braves.  Pat McKay, Russ Hoekstra, Finnie and Downton each had a single.

The win marks the return of Braves baseball to Ontario's senior circuit since the organization's last game in 1994.

Sarnia hosts the Forest Dragons on Wednesday night at Errol Russel Park in the second game of a three game home stand. Game time is 7:30pm
